“B&W Portrait on the
Wall”
By Adam Gentry
The polished crown of his
head shines in the sun as he stares off in thought, his chin in his hands, to
keep his head from falling any lower. His collar creeps up over tufts of hair.
He’d disappear into his shell if he could. Ever a thinker, often staring at his
own thoughts, leaving his eyes to fall on anything. He would rather be known
for his mind, his ideas, than his body. The body must be fed and fit, and he
keeps his in good condition, but only because he must. Appetites are a nuisance
to him, so he eats only enough to silence them. Excess body; whether it be
nail, hair, or skin, are intolerable, so he keeps all to a minimum, out of his
way.
Explanation: We each picked a
portrait hanging on the wall in the room and wrote a piece describing the
person’s appearance and personality.
