Busy Doing Nothing
Just saying the phrase makes me grin like a fool. In a world
of productivity and capitalist industry, busy doing nothing? Are you sleeping,
healing, or perhaps unwell? No, nothing like that.
Just slow down, take a deep breath, and be. Move if you want
to, stand or sit. Let your mind and your body wander their separate ways. My
hands always like to make the oddest of shapes, while my thoughts crisscross
between admiration for these fine instruments, and conjuring concrete images
that faintly connect with idle thoughts, winking in and out like fireflies.
It’s not about thought, or a lack of it. It’s about control,
and letting go.
And then the odd part, what do you think about when you’re
thinking about ‘what to think about’?
If thinking about that gives you a headache, you’re thinking
too much. Relax, don’t worry, let go and enjoy it.
