rarely say what they mean, or know what to say. The words fumble or fly from their
lips, but we cannot see them, so we look into their faces as we listen. Our
eyes roam over their lips, meeting and parting in slight or grand curves. We see
their cheeks crinkle and stretch as corners weave back and forth. We see their
eyes, those endless depths from which they see us. We see, but do we
understand?
Is
their smile genuine, or false? Do their eyes reach out to us, or try to push us
away? What does it all mean? It can take a lifetime to learn the subtle signals
and signs which blend with their spoken words to create true meaning. The most
powerful and subtle language is the unspoken words written upon your face, the story
you can embrace or resist, but never completely conceal or deny. It’s all there
for anyone to see, if they can decipher the meaning behind these smallest of
glances, and tiniest of ticks.
